HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1979-526Pursuant to due call the City Council of 27th day of present: Mayor Hunt The following member and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City of Plymouth,iM nnesota was heTd on the August , 19 79 - The following members were were Councilmember Hoyt introduced the following Resolution and moved its a option: RESOLUTION NO. 79-526 REVISING TRAIL SYSTEM PLAN FOR EAST MEDICINE LAKE BOULEVARD WHEREAS, the adopted Trail System Plan of the City of Plymouth identifies the Trail Corridor along East Medicine Lake Boulevard extending from East Medicine Lake Community Park to 36th Avenue North and the proposed Regional Park as a Collector Corridor for purposes of hiking, biking and jogging; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Parks and Open Space Commission has iden- tified this corridor to have regional significance and will not authorize funding for local units of government for the acquisition and development of the corridor; and WHEREAS, it is believed that the Hennepin County Park Reserve District is the appropriate governmental agency to acquire and develop this regionally - significant corridor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that (1) the adopted Trail System Plan be revised to reflect that the corridor extending from West Medicine Lake Boulevard and County Road 9 through the proposed Medicine Lake Regional Park along 36th Avenue North to East Medicine Lake Boulevard and south along East Medicine Lake Boulevard to 13th Avenue be changed from a Collector status to a Regional status; (2) that the Hennepin County Park Reserve District be identified by the City of Plymouth as the appropriate agency to be involved in the continued acquisition and development of the identified Trail Corridor; (3) that the Hennepin County Park Reserve District be encouraged to pursue the corridor acquisiton and development consistent with the existing Joint Power Agreement between the Hennepin County Park Reserve District and the City of Plymouth; (4) that the Hennepin County Park Reserve District only acquire property necessary to assure safety of trail users; and (5) that the Metropolitan Council Parks and Open Space Commission be encouraged to suport requests by the Hennepin County Park Reserve District for acquisition and development of the corridor. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by 94 and upon vote being taken thereon, the 0 owing voted in avor thereof: _ _Mayor Hunt, Council members Davenport, ,Hoyt and Neils The following voted against or abstained: None Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed ana adopted.
