HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1979-074CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a_ meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was a don t e 29th day of I, 1918. The following members were present: Mayor Hunt, Councilmembers Hoyt, Neils and Spaeth The following members were absent: Councilmember Seibold Councilmember Neils introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 79- 74 ESTABLISHING POLICY REGARDING THE SUBMISSION, REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF REQUIRED FIRE PROTECTION PLAN WHEREAS, the City Zoning Ordinance and Building Code require site plan approval of commercial and certain other types of developments other than one and two-family dwellings; and WHEREAS, the City Fire Prevention Code and referenced nationally -recognized codes and standards require certain fire prevention and fire protection devices and site design features; and WHEREAS, the number, type and location of various fire protection appliances and accessibility provisions can and often do impact upon the layout and the design of the building and site in such developments; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that it should and hereby does, establish the following policy regarding the submission, review and approval of fire prevention and fire protection plans: Plans, specifications, and related documentation required for site plan approval for thuso developments requiring such approval per City ordinances shall include all plans, calculations and documents regarding fire protection and fire prevention measures for said development. The design, number, location, and type of required fire protection appliances and accessibility provisions shall be in accordance with the City Fire Prevention Code and referenced national fire codes and standards. Said plans and related data shall be reviewed by the City fire authority in conjunction with the plan review process conducted by the City Planning, Inspection and Engineering Divisions. Pans submitted to the Planning Commission and to the City Council for review and approval shall include said fire protection and fire prevention plans and documentation, and any subsequent modifications thereto which, in the opinion of the City fire and inspection authorities constitute substantial amendments or alterations, may be referred back to the Planning Commission and/or City Council for disposition prior to the issuance of building permits.
