RESOLUTION NO. 78-802
ENDORSING 1978 PRELIMINARY LAYOUT FOR FUTURE COUNTY ROAD 9
WHEREAS, the City has received copies of the 1978 preliminary layout for future
County Road 9 between County Road 18 and Interstate 494, as prepared by Hennepin
County, and
WHEREAS, said preliminary layout has been reviewed by City staff and by the City
Planning Commission which endorsed the concept;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that it should and hereby does endorse the 1978 preliminary layout for
proposed County Road 9 between County Road 18 and I-494, subject to the recommenda-
tion that existing County Road 9 should intersect with Medicine Lake Boulevard
(County Road 61) rather than terminating in a cul-de-sac as indicated; and
FURTHER that provision be made for a future grade separation at the intersection
of proposed County Road 9 and West Medicine Lake Boulevard (County Road 61); and
FURTHER, because of inaccessibility to land in the northeast and southeast quad-
rants of the County Road 9/1-494 intersection, that access be provided to these
quadrants at a point midway between County Road 61 and I-494 with a service road
connection to Xenium Lane from that point;
FURTHER that the Hennepin County Highway Department recognize that due to present
and pending development, this section of existing County Road 9 is becoming sorely
overtaxed and dangerous and that an extreme urgency exists to program the construc-
tion of the new County Road 9 in the very near future.
