R ESOLUTION N O. 2020-339
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING C ONSTRUCTION P LANS FOR THE
F IRE S TATION 2 AND 3 C ONSTRUCTION AND R ENOVATION P ROJECT AND
A UTHORIZATION FOR THE A DVERTISEMENT OF B IDS (FM210014.001,
FM210014.002)
WHEREAS, the Fire Station 2 and 3 Construction and Renovation Project began in 2019 with a
feasibility study, and completed schematic design plans in 2020; and
WHEREAS, over the last 10 months, CNH Architects, RJM, and staff have completed final
construction plans; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Station 2 will be demolished and rebuilt on the existing site with an estimated
31,000 square feet. Fire Station 3 will be expanded including a remodel to the existing building with an
estimated 25,000 square feet at the end of construction; and
WHEREAS, the City hired RJM as the construction manager utilizing a modified version of
Construction Manager At Risk (CMr), in which RJM will deliver the projects for a guaranteed maximum price;
and
WHEREAS, with the CMr process, RJM and the City will solicit bids and quotes of approximately 40
to 50 trade categories; and
WHEREAS, updated project costs are estimated at $20,063,713, however, the final project costs will
be better known after the bid opening; and
WHEREAS, as required, the advertisement for bid will be published in the City’s official newspaper
and available on the City’s website. Bids will be opened on January 14, 2020.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the construction plans for the Fire Station 2 and 3 Construction and Renovation Project
are approved and advertisement for bid is authorized.
