HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1977-694W W CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a REGULAR meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on t 21st day of November , 19 77, The following members were present: were �s• reap Councilman Spaeth introduced the following Resolution and moved is adoption: RESOLUTION #77-694 WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has an adopted Trails System Plan; and WHEREAS, a component of said Plan includes snowmobile use corridors; and WHEREAS, one of the desingated snowmobile use corridors parallels Minnesota Trunk Highway 55 within the City of Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth favors the establishment of such a snowmobile corridor; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has no objection to the City of Brooklyn Park being the paying agent for the funds pursuant to the grant from the Department of.Natural Resources; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has no objection to the City of Brooklyn Park contracting with an independent contractor to provide for the construction and maintenace of the aformentioned trail system, that portion of Trunk Highway 55 of which is in the City of Plymouth, provided that the City of Plymouth has no direct responsibility for obtaining permits, easements or fee title for the trail crossings; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth understands that an organization known as "The Northwest Trail Association" is willing to make efforts to acquire land required for said trail system and further has funds to participate in the construction and maintenance of said trail system; and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth would recommend that the Northwest Trail Association work with the City of Brooklyn Park toward the establishment of the trail system paralleling Minnesota Trunk Highway 55 within the limits of the City of Plymouth; Resolution 177-694 Page 2 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Plymouth: 1) That the City of Plymouth approves of the City of Brooklyn Park receiving a grant from the Department of Natural Resources for the construction of a trail system including that portion within the City of Plymouth. 2) That the City of Plymouth suggests that the City of Brooklyn Park involve the Northwest Trail Association in working out the construction and acquisition problems for land lying within the City of Plymouth, which lands will be a part of said trail system. 3) That the City of Plymouth before construction or acquisition of lands for said trail system have the opportunity to review and approve the alignment thereof. 4) That no funds of the City of Plymouth be expended for the land acquisition, construction or maintenance of said trail system.
