The following members were present: Mayor Hilde. Councilmen Hunt. Neils Seibold and Soaeth The following members were sent: None *AA AAA #*A Councilman Hunt introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 77-131 A RESOLUTION REGARDING PASSAGE OF A BILL ALLOWING A PRELIMINARY TABULATION OF BALLOT CARDS UNDER ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM AND PERMITTING THE PUBLICATION OF THESE UNOFFICIAL RESULTS WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the current method of providing unofficial results only after the inspection and duplication of all cards received from the precincts, and WHEREAS, this procedure has resulted in delay of announcement of precinct totals in past elections, WHEREAS, the City Council and City Clerk have recognized the need for greater speed in tabulation of ballots and in the publication of unofficial vote totals at the earliest possible time, and WHEREAS, the City Council is aware that there currently exists legislation pending to allow preliminary tabulation of ballot cards and permit publication of these unofficial tabulations, known as House File No. 534; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that said City Council does hereby urge the 1976 session of the Minnesota Legislature to adopt the bill known as House File No. 534. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk will forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Chairman of the Senate Election Committee, Senator Gearty, and to the Chairman of the Elections Sub -Committee, Representative Osthoff, and to all local Legislators. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Spaeth and upon vote being taken thereon, the fol owing voFect in favor ereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Hunt, Neils, Seibold and Spaeth ine tollowing voted against or abstain • one %hereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and M-p—ted.
