HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1976-668-6 CITY OF PLYMOUTH 0 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a;Qeciat meeting of the City Council of .the City of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the the 8th day of November , 19_1&. The following members were present:Mavor Hilde. Councilmen Hunt pile, Spihn1d and Spaeth_ The following members were absent: Nonp Councilman Spaeth introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 76-668 ESTABLISHING POLICY CONCERNING REVIEW OF CITY RECORDS BY AUQITORS WHEREAS, the City Council annually retains qualified public auditing firms to thoroughly and completely audit the City's financial records in accordance with accepted auditing procedures, and WHEREAS, "it is the policy of this Council to insure that the auditors retained by it perform their work in accordance with the highest standards of the auditing profession, and WHEREAS, each year the City seeks an unqualified opinion with respect to the financial affairs of the City for that year and has received such unqualified opinions in the past, and WHEREAS, it is not normally necessary that the auditors for the City review past records which have previously been subject to audit and which audits have received unqualified opinions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH that auditors retained by the City Council shall be retained to audit the affairs of the City on an annual basis so as to provide the Council and the citizens of Plymouth with'a complete audit of the City's financial affairs for that year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if in the judgment of the auditors retained by the Council that a review of,prior years' records is desirable then and in that event the auditors shall be required to first obtain the authorization of the City Council prior to examining the records from prior years. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Neils , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Hunt. The following voted against or abstained: None :hereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
