GOOGLE IMAGES By Nick Halter - Senior Reporter/Broadcaster, Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal Jul 10, 2020, 2:27pm EDT Developer Dominium may not move its headquarters to Minnetonka, where it purchased the empty Crest Ridge Corporate Center in late 2019 for $18.5 million. Dominium had planned to begin a renovation of about 60,000 square feet in the building early this year. Vice President of Public Affairs Paula Prahl said Dominium had moved some things around in the space, but did not begin renovations. “We are in the middle of addressing our space requirements due to Covid and our planned growth in other markets," she said. "We are trying to figure out what is going to work for us.” Page 11 Prahl added: "We have a number of people that have moved to remote work and our space needs aren’t as dire as when we purchased (Crest Ridge). We are also looking to open some other offices in other parts of the country where we are doing more development.” Dominium, on the nation's largest developers, managers and owners of affordable housing, previously said it had outgrown its space in Plymouth and was planning to move about 200 employees to Crest Ridge and then lease out the other half of the 120,000-square-foot building. But the pandemic, which sent millions of white-collar employees to work from home for months — has prompted a nationwide rethink of office-space needs. Remote working has generally gone smoothly, meaning some companies may be more comfortable keeping at least some of them away from the office long-term, reducing space needs. Plus, the economic downturn brought on by the Covid-19 has many companies taking a hard look at expenses, especially for projects that can be put off — like a new headquarters, for example. Asked if Dominum would sell the Crest Ridge building, Prahl said “At this point, everything is possible.” Page 12
