HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1976-3381W 1W CITY OF PLYMOUTH i Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on the 21st day of June 19 76 . The following members were present: ng memoers were Councilman Neiis introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 76-338 URGING ACTION ON THE BASSETT CREEK FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT WHEREAS, the Bassett Creek Flood Control Commissino h_s .,.7ipleted the basic planning work needed to develop a plan for ;overall flood control within the Bassett Creek drainage area, and WHEREAS, development of a new storm sewer outlet in an area now included in plans for the construction of a se^ment of the interstate highway 1bsystem by the. Minnesota Highway �ep.rtment in downtown Minneapolis is a vital element in the flood control plan, and WHEREAS, if the plans for the highwav -ind the storm sewer can be coordinated and an oversized storm sewer pijle placed as part of the highway con- struction, savings of between 6 and 10 million dollars wi11 be realized, and WHEREAS, this project is under review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for financing in a process that normally takes up to a year and a half before the matter will be before Congress for consideration, and WHEREAS, there apparently is a procedure whereby the House Committee on Public Works can bring this project directly to them for consideration, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that the Congressional representatives of the Bassett Creek drainage area hereby are requested to assist in whatever way possible to urge and to obtain the agreement of the Committee on Public Works to have the feasibility report for flood control for the Bassett Creek Watershed in Hennepin County, Minnesota pulled from the division offices of the U.S. Corps of Engineers for immediate consideration by Congress. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Spaeth , and upon vote being taken thereon, the To1Towing voted —in favor t ereo :- ayor Hilde, Councilmen Neils, Seibold and SR�aet__h The7ollowlng voted against orabstained: None Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly pasimand adopted.
