HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1976-0520. • CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was he on the 19th day of January , 191x. The following members were present: Councilman 5 aeth introduced the following Resolution and moved Its adoption. RESOLUTION NO. 76- 52 COUNTY ROAD 15 SPEED LIMITS WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has received a written notification from the Hennepin County Public Works Department, dated December 29, 1975, wherein they have advised that the speed limits of County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 15 will be as follows: 30 miles per hour between the intersection of CSAH 73 and a point approximately 200 feet east of the intersection of Zinnia Lane. 35 miles per hour between a point approximately 200 feet east of the intersection with Zinnia Lane and the intersection with T.H. 12. (as per letter from R.H. Sullivan, Traffic Engineer, Minnesota Highway Department, dated December 8, 1975), and WHEREAS, within the City of Plymouth, the proposed changes are:7 Between Zinnia Lane and Niagara Lane, the speed limit will be increased from 30 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. WHEREAS, the accident experience on CSAH 15 from January 1, 1974 to June 4, 1975. reveals: 15 property damage accidents 10 personal injury accidents 0 fatal accidents WHEREAS, the existing roadway has many hills,curves, etc. and therefore is not conducive to higher speed limits, and WHEREAS, the City Council takes exception to and vigorously opposes any proposed increase to the existing posted speed limits on CSAH 15, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA that the posted speed limits of CSAH 15 from CSAH 73 to T.H. 12 not be changed as proposed by the Commissioner of Highways and that the Commissioner of Highways revoke his order dated December 8, 1975. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Seibold , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Neils, -Seibold and Spaeth. The following voted against or abstained: None Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
