HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1975-554CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth, Minnesota, was held on theX29 h� daffy of September , 1975 . The following members were present:Mayor Hilde, Councilman Spaeth introduced the following Resolution and moved Its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 75-554 RESOLUTION REQUESTING INTERSTATE COMMERCE COMMISSION TO MODIFY PROCEDURES FOR ESTAB- LISHING COMMERCE ZONES AND TERMINAL AREAS WHEREAS, the Interstate Commerce Commission has opened hearings for receiving written testimony on EX PARTE NO. MC -37 (Sub -No. 26) - COMMERCIAL ZONES AND TERMINAL AREAS - NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING, for the purposes of determining whether commercial zones and terminal areas of motor carriers and freight forwarders should be redefined, and WHEREAS, the present rules establishing commercial zones and terminal areas do not adequately reflect the realities of metropolitan growth in this county nor the impact upon such growth of the interstate highway system, and WHEREAS, the Twin City metropolitan area encompassing seven counties has been established as a political entity by the legislature of this state, and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council, in cooperation with other local governmental jurisdictions, work cooperatively to enhance the balanced growth of the Twin City metropolitan area so as to promote the health and welfare of the citizens residing therein, and WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth is located within the Twin City metropolitan area and has experienced rapid and signigicant commercial and industrial growth during the past 10 years, and WHEREAS, only a small portion of Plymouth is presently located within the I.C.C. Twin City Minneapolis -St. Paul commercial truck zone which fact tends to discourage and obstruct the orderly economic development of the City of Plymouth, as well as other communities so situated. NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plymouth that the Interstate Commerce Commission be and the same is hereby requested to modify its procedures for establishing commerce zones and terminal areas of motor carriers and freight forwarders so as to encourage and promote the orderly and systematic growth of the metropolitan area and the communities located therein. RESOLUTION NO. 75-554 Page 2 r BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Senators Mondale and Humphrey and Representative Frenzel. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Co ncilman H nt , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereo . Mayor Hilda, Councilmen Hunt- Npils and S aeth The following voted against or abstained: Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passe and adopted.
