2020 Contact: Jessie Koch Recreation Supervisor City of Plymouth 763-509-5223 jkoch@plymouthmn.gov Plymouth Farmers Market set to open June 17 Plymouth, Minn. – The City of Plymouth will kick off its annual outdoor Farmers Market Wednesday, June 17 at Parkers Lake Playfield, 15500 County Road 6. The market will be open 2:30-6:30 p.m. each Wednesday through Sept. 30. Vendors sell fresh, locally grown produce and prepared food, including fruits, vegetables, fresh bread, oils and vinegars, honey, maple syrup, ice cream, meats, sauces, flowers and more. COVID-19 Farmers Market Changes This year's market will be modified due to COVID-19. The market will have a designated entrance and exit and directional signage for customers to follow. Marketgoers should wash their hands at the on-site wash stations, practice social distancing and exercise patience while waiting to purchase items. All participants must stay home if they are sick. The use of masks, as well as limiting guests to one shopper per household, is recommended. Only vendors should handle market products – customers should not touch items as they shop. Prepared food must be taken to go and cannot be eaten on site. Farmers Market Pre-Sale Options New this year, some Plymouth Farmers Market vendors will offer pre-sale options for customers to minimize contact at the market. Information about pre-sale options will be posted at plymouthmn.gov/farmersmarket. While some vendors offer credit/debit card payments, market visitors are encouraged to bring cash for those who do not. Dogs are not allowed at the market, with the exception of service dogs. The 2020 market will not include food donations, prize drawings, musicians, children's activities or a community table. A weekly newsletter will be emailed to subscribers to provide information and offer recipes or health benefits for ingredients available at the market. For more information or to view the weekly newsletter, visit plymouthmn.gov/farmersmarket. The 2020 Plymouth Farmers Market is sponsored by Kyle Vitense State Farm, TCF Bank and Renewal By Andersen. -30- Page 9 City of Plymouth News Release For Immediate Release June 4, 2020 Contact: Sara Lynn Cwayna Public Safety Education Specialist City of Plymouth 763-509-5198 scwayna@plymouthmn.gov Night to Unite rescheduled to Oct. 6 in Plymouth Plymouth, Minn. – The City of Plymouth has rescheduled Night to Unite to 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 in Plymouth, due to COVID-19 concerns. The annual statewide crime prevention and community-building event, typically held in August, offers an opportunity to strengthen community ties by encouraging neighbors to coordinate and host block parties. Block Party Registration Block parties registered with the city may receive a "drive-by and wave" visit from a fire truck, police squad or Plymouth City Council members. To register a neighborhood block party, visit plymouthmn.gov/ntu. Rather than hosting typical potlucks, block party coordinators are encouraged to support local restaurants by ordering for curbside pickup/delivery during Night to Unite. Residents who attend neighborhood block parties are encouraged to follow all applicable social distancing recommendations and other guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health at the time of the event. -30 - Page 10 Page 11 Page 12
