RESOLUTION NO. 75-214
REQUESTING AN EXPLANATION FROM WAYZATA SCHOOL DISTRICT
REGARDING THE 38% INCREASE IN 1975 PROPERTY TAXES
WHEREAS, the Plymouth City Council recognized -that sound fiscal planning and
management is of utmost importance to Plymouth residents and to persons and
businesses which may consider locating here, and
WHEREAS, the Council has made every effort to promote sound and stable fiscal
planning and management with City government particularly as it relates to the
stability of the property tax, and
WHEREAS, the recent 38% property tax increase levied by the Wayzata School District
has served to frustrate and negate the efforts of the Plymouth City Council to
promote local fiscal stability, and
WHEREAS, the past fluctuations in mill rates by the Wayzata School District would
indicate that proper and fiscal planning and management are not receiving adequate
attention, and
WHEREAS, fluctuations in local levies and other examples of questionable fiscal
planning hinder Plymouth's efforts of developing a sound tax base for the benefit
of school districts and others relying upon the property tax.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that the residents of Wayzata School District deserve a public
explanation by the members of the School Board concerning the 38% increase in
