R ESOLUTION N O. 2020-146
R ESOLUTION A PPROVING L IGHT B RONZE N ICKLE A NODIZED E XTERIOR C OLOR
FOR THE P LYMOUTH C REEK C ENTER R ENOVATION AND E XPANSION P ROJECT
WHEREAS, the architect has provided three color/method alternatives for the exterior of the
Plymouth Creek Center; and
WHEREAS, the exterior options are anodized light bronze/nickel, painted blue, and anodized
blue; and
WHEREAS, the light bronze and nickel palette is a standard line of anodized finishes which
creates a molecular bond with the aluminum in the anodizing process and the warranty period is up to
20 years; and
WHEREAS, the blue painted palette would utilize aluminum as a base material and the paint
finish is warrantied for 20 years against deterioration, color fade, and other factors; and
WHEREAS, the blue anodized palette uses a color dye that does not form an adequate molecular
bond to the aluminum which could result in color streaking and fading and the architect has undertaken
exhaustive research and cannot recommend this option due to multiple color flaws; and
WHEREAS, based on the above options, both staff and architects recommend the anodized light
bronze/nickel exterior finish.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the anodized light bronze and nickel exterior color for the Plymouth Creek Center
Renovation and Expansion project is approved.
