introduced the following Resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 75-178
REQUESTING LEGISLATURE TO DEFER ACTION ON
MANDATORY PLANNING BILL AND METRO SIGNIFICANCE BILL
WHEREAS. the State Legislature is presently actiVely considering a Mandatory
Planning Bill (S.F. 1653, H.F. 1530), and a Metro Significance Bill (S.F. 855),
and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth has previously, thoughtfully and thoroughly, taken
prudent steps to plan for its development and, therefore, encourages local
planning by local governmental units in the metropolitan area, and
WHEREAS, the proposed Mandatory Planning Bill and Metro Significance Bill have
not been adequately studied and reviewed with local officials who are most
familiar with the various complex problemsn involved in preparing comprehensive
plans, and
WHEREAS, the importance of comprehensive planning in the metropolitan area requires
the thoughtful contribution of local governmental leaders, as well as others,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH

t.iat the Plymouth City Council urges the State Legislature to defer action on the
Mandatory Planning Bill and Metro Significance Bill for this session of the
Legislature so as to provide greater participation and input from lgcal elected
officials so that improved bills may be enacted in the next legislative session.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by
Councilman Neils, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor
thereof: Acting Mayor Hunt, Councilmen Neils, Seibold and Spaeth. The following
voted against or abstained: none. Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly
passed and adopted.
