CITY OF PLYMOUTH
Pursuant -to due call and notice thereof, a 1 meeting of the City
Council of the City of Plymouth. Minnesota. was held on a 24th day of
March 19 75 The following members were present:Actina Mayor

Councilman Seibold introduced the following Resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 75-153
REPAIR WORK ON DEEP WELL NO. 2 - PROJECT 004
WHEREAS. the City of Plymouth (City) and Layne Minnesota Company (Contractor)
entered into a contract dated July 28, 1969 for the construction of City Well No. 2,
WHEREAS. upon completion of the construction the City and the Contractor entered
into an Agreement dated December 1. 1969 wherein the contractor agreed to certain
conditions relative to Well No. 2, and
• WHEREAS, the contractor has pulled the pump and made inspection of same and has
determined the following:
1. Some abnormal wear on the line shaft rubber ,.wrings which was directly
attributable to the original faulty alignment of the well, and -therefore,
the correction of same is the responsibility of the contractor;
2. Certain items including replacement of shaft sleeves. shaft couplings,
bronze stuffing, box bushings, suction and discharge nozzle bushings were
in need of repair due to usual wear and to sand pumping and are therefore
the City's responsibility; and
WHEREAS, because of excessive amounts of sand being pumped out of Well No. 2 it was
necessary to bail out this well as well as trim the impellars on the pump to reduce
the pump capacity to approximately 2100 gallons per minute.
WHEREAS, as part of the aforementioned agreement. the City has the option to
purchase the pump at a total cost of $11.202.45 less the rental payments made by
the City during the past five years (5 @ $1800.00 - $9000.00). and
WHEREAS, the Cit;#'s Consulting Engineer has recommended in his letter of March 20, 1975
that although the City has the right under the agreement to require corrective
measures or to ask f6r further warranty of installation, as a practical matter the
pump should perform adequately for the City of Plymouth under normal maintenance
procedures, therefore the City should purchase the pump and the expiration of the
existing agreement made,
