HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1974-144CITY OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Plymouth. Minnesota, was held on the 4th day of March, 1974. Thefollowingmembers were present: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Neils, Hunt and Spaeth. The following members were absent: Councilman Seibold. Councilman Neils introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 74-144 OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED LEGISLATION HOUSE FILE 3335 AND SENATE FILE 3303 WHEREAS, bills have been introduced in the State Legislature which would provide for substantial delays in the receipt of tax distributions from the County, and WHEREAS, such delays in receipt of such monies would increase the already drastic effects of the levy limitation statute, and further imperil the ability of many communities to meet their current obliga- tions, bliga-tions, and WHEREAS, the County governments have not demonstrated any need to deviate from the present distribution practices and, in fact, presently enjoy substantial interest earnings from the use of said tax monies prior to their statutory distribution, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH that this Council strenuously opposes both House File 3335 and Senate File 3303 and requests members of the State Legislature to oppose this legislation which would further hamper local communities in their efforts to meet their statutory obligatio;.,�. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor write the Chairman of the "Taxes and Tax Laws" Committee, as well as our local House and Senate representatives indicating our strenuous opposition to this proposed legislation. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Hunt, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Neils, Hunt and Spaeth. The following voted against or abstained: None. Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
