HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1973-044VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the 29th day of January, 1973. The following members were present: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Spaeth., Hunt, Seibold, and Neils. The following members were absent: None. Councilman Hunt introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 73-44 WHEREAS, the Village of Plymouth has filed application for State Assistance in the amount of $143,624 for the acquisition of 13.29 acres on Medicine Lake subject to the conditions of Extra Session Laws of 1971 Chapter III, Section 48, Subdivision 7, Paragraph H. and WHEREAS, the population of suburban Hennepin County is increasing at an accelerating rate and, consequently, the availability of natural areas and water access areas is decreasing at an increasing rate, and WHEREAS, the provision of park and open space for an increasing population is vitally important to the suburban Hennepin County well being, and WHEREAS, the greater the density of population, the more important the acquisition of public open space becomes. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council believes that the acquisition by the Village of Plymouth of additional park land on Medicine Lake will be of regional significance and that the proximity of the park to suburban Hennepin County will make it readily accessible to a sub- stantial proportion of the County population outside the Village, of Plymouth, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is found that the acquisition of additional land to the Medicine Lake park by the Village of Plymouth meets the County and Metropolitan Ceuncil Open Space Objective of providing more regional recreation areas. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Seibold, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Spaeth, Hunt, Seibold, and Neils.
