R ESOLUTION N O. 2020-036
R ESOLUTION A CCEPTING G RANT FROM THE M ETROPOLITAN C OUNCIL
FOR THE 2019-2022 W ATER E FFICIENCY G RANT P ROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth supports water conservation practices that help to reduce the
water demand from municipal water supply customers; and
WHEREAS, to encourage water conservation, the City of Plymouth has previously implemented a
rebate program to offer property owners a rebate on WaterSense certified toilets, EnergyStar washing
machines and WaterSense certified irrigation controllers that reduce municipal water use for residential
and commercial properties within the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth applied for the Metropolitan Council’s 2019-2022 Water
Efficiency Grant Program in September 2019 to continue implementation of this program; and
WHEREAS, the City was notified that it had received funding in the amount of $33,300 to
implement a Water Efficiency Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires the City of Plymouth to provide 25% matching funds in the
amount of at least $11,100; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plymouth match will be from the Water Fund; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be utilized by the Public Works Department to implement the
Water Efficiency Rebate Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA that;
1. The grant in the amount of $33,300 from the Metropolitan Council for the 2019-2022 Water
Efficiency Grant Program is accepted.
2. The City Manager is authorized and directed to enter into the grant agreement with the
Metropolitan Council for the 2019-2022 Water Efficiency Grant Program.
