HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2019-334 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2019-334 R ESOLUTION A WARDING B ID FOR C ITY H ALL L OWER L EVEL R EMODEL P ROJECT WHEREAS, the City Hall lower level office areas of Community Development and Engineering have not been improved for over 20 years. The existing office furniture has reached the end of life, and space is currently underutilized; and WHEREAS, on October 22, 2019, Council authorized advertisement for bids for the project and approved furniture acquisition utilizing the State Contract through Interium, a Plymouth company; and WHEREAS, the overall project includes; construction (e.g., mechanical, electrical, carpet, wallpaper removal and painting), furniture (e.g., office areas, conference rooms), audio visual updates (e.g., data wiring, white noise), and miscellaneous items (e.g., equipment rental, consultant, contingency); and WHEREAS, on December 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., sealed bids were opened at Plymouth City Hall for the construction phase. Cates Construction $516,000 $58,000 $574,000 Morcon Construction Co., Inc. $540,000 $85,000 $625,000 Project One Construction $486,854 $71,300 $558,154 Construction Estimate $553,300 $60,632 $613,932 WHEREAS, based on bid amounts, staff and consultants recommend that the Council award the base bid, and alternate one to the Dering Pierson Group for $480,810; and WHEREAS, the project is scheduled in the 2020 Capital Improvement Program with an estimate cost of $1,300,000 utilizing the Facilities Fund. The overall project costs are inclusive of construction ($480,810), furniture ($426,640), security and audio visual ($112,084), consultant and contingencies ($280,466). NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the City Hall Lower Level Remodel Project (FM-20-0006) awarded to the Dering Pierson Group in the amount of $480,810 is approved. APPROVED by the City Council on this 10th day of December, 2019.
