HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2019-315 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2019-315 R ESOLUTION A PPROVING THE N ORTHWEST G REENWAY C HALLENGE C OURSE P ROJECT (PR140005.191) WHEREAS, on March 26, 2019, City Council approved the overall master plan for the Northwest Greenway Trailhead Phase Five. The 2019-2020 Phase Five project provides for the design and construction of the Peony Lane South Trailhead (approximately six upland acres); and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation staff is developing a challenge course on the southern knoll of the Northwest Greenway Trailhead; and WHEREAS, staff selected and have been working with Flagship Recreation on the final design of the challenge course with equipment made by Landscape Structures of Delano, Minnesota; and WHEREAS, the challenge course will be unique to the Plymouth Park system because it is designed for the 13+ year old park user and features natural fitness components involving rocks, ropes, and other obstacles; and WHEREAS, the challenge course will be coordinated and completed by the Parks and Forestry staff utilizing a cooperative purchasing agreement; and WHEREAS, the development of this park is scheduled in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for 2020 in the amount of $300,000 utilizing Park Dedication Funds. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that Northwest Greenway Challenge Course and Flagship Recreation is approved and staff is authorized to proceed with the development of the challenge course utilizing Park Dedication Funds in accordance with the $300,000 CIP budget. APPROVED by the City Council on this 26th day of November, 2019.
