HomeMy WebLinkAboutHousing & Redevelopment Authority Minutes 06-01-1981Page 76 MINUTES OF REGULA'MEETING OF THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA Jun! 1, 1981 A regular meeting of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Plymouth, Minnesota was held on the lst day cf June, 1981 at 6:40 p.m. at the City Council Chambers in the City of Plymouth, Psinneri ta. The following members of the Authority were present: Chairman Hillstrom, Commissioners Bakke and Hoyt. Commissioners Erickson and Neils were absent. There were also present the following members of the City staff: Associate Planner Dale, City Manager Willis and Secretary Garrity. Chairman Hillstrom read the call of the meting. It was moved by Commissioner Hoyt, seconded by Commissioner Bakke, to approve the minutes of the April 6, 1981 regular HRA meeting as submitted. Motion carried, three ayes. The Commissioners reviewer; staff's memorandum recommending that an audit be made of the HRA's financial records for the period July 1, 1979 to June 30, 1981. Associate Planner Dale stated Manager Willis has suggested that the HRA retain Moen and Penttila beca,ise they have already done one audit for the HRA. He commented, however, the Robert J. Sylvhster firm 'has more experience doing HRA audits. is It was moved by Commissioner Hoyt, seconded by Commissioner Bakke, to adopt ` the It resolution: HRA Resolution No. 81-02 SELECTING AN !NDEPENDENT PUDITING FIRM TO AUDIT HRA FINANCIAL RECORDS FOR THE PERIOD JULY 1, 1979 - JUNE 30, 1981 WHEREAS, the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the City of Plymouth is required, under State I.aw, to provide the State Auditor with an audit of its operations; and WHEREAS, three auditing firms submitted proposals to conduct such an audit; and WHEREAS, the firm of Robert J. Sylvester was the lowest bidder; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLYMOUTH HRA that the firm of Robert J. Sylvester of York, Nebraska be retained perform an audit for the Plymouth HRA for the period July 1, 1979 through June 30, 1981 in accordance with the contract herein attached for an amount not to exceed $934.00. Motion carried on a Roll Call vote, three eyes. Mr. Dale reported that two meetings have been scheduled with prospective Section 202 sponsors regarding a subsidized elderly housing project in Plymouth. Commissioner Hoyt agreed to represent the NRA at the meetings on June 9 and 16. Regular HRA Meeting June 1, 1981 Page. 77 6 Associate Planner Dale reported on the Section 202 Workshop conducted by HUD on April 9, 1981. Mr. Dale reviewed the progress of the Kimberly Meadows and Willow Woods Estates Section 8 Family Townhouse Projects in Plymouth. Planner Dale commented in the Battered Women's Workshop he attended at Home Free on May 13, 1981. The Commissioners discussed the topic of volunteerism as an alternative to more government programs and Mr. Dale reviewed the volunteer program in Minnetonka and dscussed the possibility of initiating a similar group in Plymouth. There was dis- cussion of the Share -A -Home Program and the possibility of involving local churches and colleges in the program. The meeting adjourned at 1:16 p.m. is e,4e,e ' Geral H.
