R ESOLUTION A UTHORIZING P LYMOUTH C REEK C ENTER R ENOVATION
AND E XPANSION P ROJECT WITH T WO G YMNASIUMS AND AN O PTION FOR A F UTURE
T HIRD G YMNASIUM E XPANSION
WHEREAS, staff and consultants are requesting direction on gymnasium space for the Plymouth
Creek Center Renovation and Expansion Project. The approved design defines two gymnasiums; and
WHEREAS, at the September 10, 2019 meeting, Council approved the schematic design with two
gymnasiums at a cost of $51.6 million. In addition, authorization was given to move forward with the
design development and construction document phases for the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and
Expansion project; and
WHEREAS, Council was presented with two options for including a third gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, Council selected Option 1 to develop design and construction documents that
support a potential future expansion of a third gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, to accommodate this future option, facility infrastructure will need to be
designed with up-sized mechanical, electrical and site utilities for an approximate 7,000 square
foot space; and
WHEREAS, the cost for design development and construction documents with two gymnasiums
and the option for a future third gymnasium has an estimated project cost of $51,974,500, which is an
increase of $374,500 to the approved (September 10, 2019) two gymnasium plan.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH,
MINNESOTA, that the Mayor and City Manager are authorized and directed to enter into agreement
with HGA to lead the design and construction documents with two gymnasiums with the option for a
potential future expansion of a third gymnasium for the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and
Expansion Project.
