HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2019-253 C ITY OF P LYMOUTH R ESOLUTION N O. 2019-253 R ESOLUTION A PPROVING S CHEMATIC D ESIGN P LAN AND A UTHORIZE D ESIGN AND C ONSTRUCTION P LANS FOR THE P LYMOUTH C REEK C ENTER R ENOVATION AND E XPANSION P ROJECT WHEREAS, the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and Expansion Project began in 2016 with the feasibility study and progressed to a community engagement process during 2018; and WHEREAS, in 2019, the Council authorized Schematic Design plans; and WHEREAS, during the past three years, information has been presented, shared or received at eight council meetings, nine study sessions, five special events, four open houses, two flash vote surveys, Social Pinpoint, six Plymouth News articles and a special edition of the Plymouth news mailed to each address in Plymouth; and WHEREAS, the proposed plans for the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and Expansion Project include the following program spaces: indoor walking track, indoor playground, two gymnasiums, three fitness rooms, three senior rooms, five multi-purpose rooms, additional music room, and renovation of the existing 30,000 foot building and spaces; and WHEREAS, the next step in the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and Expansion project is to move into the design and construction plan process; and WHEREAS, development of the design and construction plan finalizes the design, and produces drawings that include specifications for construction details and materials. Once this plan set is complete, the document is ready for the bidding process; and WHEREAS, the project cost is $51.6 million, which includes renovation and expansion costs. The City is seeking $15 million in state bond funds and other offsetting revenues to assist in funding the project. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA, that the Schematic Design Plan is approved and staff is authorized to proceed with Design and Construction Plans for the Plymouth Creek Center Renovation and Expansion Project. APPROVED by the City Council on this 10th day of September, 2019.
