HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 1972-261i VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Plymouth, Minnesota, was `3 held on the 17th day of July, 1972. The following members were present: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Hunt, Spaeth and Neils. The following members were absent: Councilman Seibold. Councilman Hunt introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 72-261 WHEREAS, the rapid growth of Plymouth during the past several years has necessitated numerous public improvement projects cost- ing millions of dollars, and WHEREAS, the costs of these improvements are borne by persons benefitting therefrom largely through special assessments, and WHEREAS, the soil conditions and ground water levels found generally throughout Plymouth are such that streets are subjected to unusual stress, and WHEREAS, the Council, as well as citizens, is aware that in several instances, the paving on some streets has not held up as had been anticipated, and WHEREAS, to the extent such streets have to be repaired and/ or replaced as a result of premature breakup, the ultimate public cost of the original street is substantially increased, and WHEREAS, it is the duty and responsibility of this Council to provide for adequate streets in the Village which will meet the requirements for which they are designed, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PLYMOUTH that it shall be the policy of this Council to require that the Village Engineer take those reason- able and prudent acitons in the design and construction of Villag streets to insure that the design standards are adequate, giving consideration tothe type of soils encountered, foundations re- quired to support the street, and a paved surface which is adequa to insure a durable and long-lasting surface. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Neils, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Hilde, Councilmen Hunt, Spaeth and Neils. The following voted against: None. Whereupon the Resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. STATE OF MINNESOTA ) COUNTY OF HENNEPIN ) SS.
