MANUFACTURING - ON THE MOVE Maud Borup will expand Minnesota
chocolate factory
Christine Lantinen is president and owner of Maud Borup. SUBMITTED
By: Mark Reilly – Managing Editor, Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal Nov 27, 2019, 7:43am EST
Candy and gourmet foods maker Maud Borup Inc. will begin construction next month
on a $5.5 million expansion of its manufacturing plant in Le Center.
The Star Tribune talks with Maud Borup owner Christine Lantinen, who bought the
company in 2005 and says the expansion will let it add additional products based on the
100-year-old recipes of the company's namesake.
When completed next summer, the plant will add another 30 jobs, including some
professional chocolatiers, bringing its total workforce to 150.
Maud Borup was ranked No. 38 on the Business Journal's 2019 Fast 50 List of fastest-
growing private companies in the Twin Cities. It had 2018 revenue of $15.5 million, up
44.24 percent from 2016. Lantinen says she expects to top $20 million in sales for 2019.
