Little Wild Learn to Play hockey program registration opens May 20
Plymouth, Minn. – The Little Wild Learn to Play Hockey Program will be featured this September at the
Plymouth Ice Center, 3650 Plymouth Blvd.
The four-week program is set for 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays Sept. 4, Sept. 11, Sept. 18 and Sept. 25.
A program for children ages 5-8 who have not yet participated in organized youth hockey programs,
Little Wild introduces beginners to the game of hockey. The program is taught by USA Hockey-certified
coaches.
Before participating in the program, Minnesota Wild staff recommend children take skating lessons.
Participants should be able to skate the width of the ice unassisted before the start of the first Little
Wild session.
Cost to participate in the program is $130, which includes the four one-hour sessions, a full set of
custom-fit equipment and a ticket to a pre-season Minnesota Wild game.
The equipment set includes a helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, skates, hockey stick, elbow pads, hockey
pants, shin guards, socks, Little Wild jersey and an equipment bag.
“For families that have never tried hockey, purchasing all new equipment can be very costly,” said
Georgia Heller, community relations and hockey partnerships coordinator at the Minnesota Wild. “The
purpose of the Little Wild program is to help eliminate the barriers to entry by providing all necessary
equipment and hands-on instruction at a low cost.”
Hosting the program at the Plymouth Ice Center is possible through a partnership with Wayzata Youth
Hockey Association, which pays for ice time to help introduce the game of hockey to new children in the
community.
Registration
Registration for the Little Wild Learn to Play program begins at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20. To register,
visit wild.com/littlewild. For more information about the program, call the Minnesota Wild at 651-312-
3443 or email littlewild@wild.com.

Minnesota Chamber names Deb
McMillan head of workforce initiative
Deb McMillan will lead the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce's workforce initiative.
DEB MCMILLAN
By Alex Wittenberg – Staff writer, Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce has chosen Deb McMillan to lead an
endeavor focused on improving Minnesota's workforce issues, the
organization announced Thursday.
Launched last year, the Center for Workforce Solutions is a business-led
initiative that aims to address the state's worker shortage and help the
economy to "change and grow."
McMillan has been TwinWest Chamber of Commerce's vice president of
public policy since 2013. She will start in the new role June 17.

"I’m grateful for this opportunity with the Minnesota Chamber to further
my passion of finding solutions to the business community’s greatest
challenge — workforce," McMillan said in a news release. "I thank the
TwinWest Chamber for nearly six years there, and look forward to
continuing to partner with TwinWest to advocate for Minnesota job-
creators."
The Business Journal has been reporting on Minnesota's workforce
challenges as part of its Help Wanted Minnesota series, the third
installment of which was published earlier this month.
